Create A Log

Create Log

What is this?

A log is what you could consider to be the same as a journal. You can create as many logs as you want. For example: "My best fishing trip ever". Then in this log you would have entries, just like in a journal, that you will add next. If you already have a log created that you would like to add an entry into click "Next" below.

Did you know

that if you were logged in you could add this as a private log?

What is this?

Select which log this entry is for. If you created a new log on step 1 check the box next to "Use the log created in step 1".

Before you can enter the details of your log we need to know what you're logging. Select "Structure" if you want to mark something like a drop off, or rocks or a roadbed etc. Select "Catch" if you want to log a fish you caught.

If you want to be entered to win a prize in our Log & Win Summer 2012 Sweepstakes check the box next to that option. Prize entries can only be catches and can never be edited or deleted.

Entry Location

Enter Location
Click on the map where you want to mark your waypoint. Enlarge Map

What is this?

To start, use the map to search for the location of your log. Simply enter the location in the search bar above the map and click "Search Map". Once you find your body of water click on the map where you want to put your waypoint. When you have your waypoint where you want it fill out the rest of the location details.

What Did You Catch?

Catch Details

Tell us about your fish.

This step is pretty self explanatory. First pick the species of fish you caught from the drop down list. If it's not in the list enter it in the "Other" field. Next if you weighed your fish or have an estimate let us know how heavy it was. For Example: 6.8. Lastly enter the length of your catch in inches. For example: 23.5

What did you use to catch your fish?

Lure / Bait Details
Please select artificial or live bait above

What is this?

Woah! there are a lot of options to fill out here. Nothing in this area is required unless you are entering a prize enrty.

First let us know if you used artificial or live bait..

Once you do that you will see options appear. We have certain lures, brands and colors etc in our database. If yours is not listed in the drop downs simply enter it in the "other" fields.

Lure Weight is pretty self explanatory, but there are a few options that may confuse you. Different rigs use different weights. If you were using a rig with a weight enter it in ounces whether it was a carolina rig, drop shot, jig or anything else.

If there isn't a specific spot in our form for something about your lure, enter it in the "other lure details" section.

Weather Conditions

Weather Conditions

What is this?

Nothing in this section is required, but it can be very helpful when you come across similar conditons on a future outing. If an otption you would like to add is not in the drop downs enter it in the "other" fields.

Water Conditions

Water Conditions

What is this?

Just like recording weather conditions the water conditions when you caught your fish mean a lot. Once you have enough logs built up you can build reports and see where and what fish are biting on during certain conditions.

Lake Structure

Lake Structure

What is this?

One of the main things fish relate to is structure, especially bass. Knowing what structure a fish was on and what lure caught them around that structure can help you on future outings.

at :

This is usually for users that are exporting waypoints to gps units. No two log names can be the same in our database so make sure you make the name "unique" in some way. It is not required but can be very helpful.

What is this?

Last step! Fill out the final details of your log. If you don't want anyone to see anything about this log make sure you mark it as private. (Only members can use this option.)
